Philippine Airlines is 2019 Most Improved Airline in the World

Based on the latest 2019 Skytrax World Airline Award, Philippine Airlines was chosen as the world's most improved airline company in the world for the year 2019. The World's Most Improved Airline award reflects an airline's Quality improvement across the entire Awards programme, which analyses an airline's change in the global rating, and performance improvements in different award categories.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) used to be one of the largest Asian airlines. However, due to the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis the said airline suffered huge loses. It was one of the Philippines' biggest corporate failures, PAL was forced to downsize its international flights. It completely stopped its  flight operations to Europe and Middle East, cutting virtually all domestic flights except routes operated from Manila, reducing the size of its fleet, and laying off thousands of employees. The said airline was placed under government receivership in 1998, but it gradually restored most of its operations to many destinations later on. The airline got out of receivership in 2007 and from then on, PAL slowly re-established itself as one of Asia's premier airline.
